Modern Kids Play+Learn Concepts

The following projects are concepts that I worked on as part of the design fellowship program at Chronicle Books. These are learning games designed to be part of the MoMA Modern Kids product collection.

Modern Art Puzzle Books
These puzzle books were designed with the idea of using art to help children learn more about colors and shapes. By using famous paintings, these books also help engage children with modern art in a fun way.

The puzzle pieces are printed double-sided and cut in ways that correspond to the artwork. These pieces can be used as puzzle pieces, where the goal is to rebuild the artwork, or as independent building blocks for children to create their own compositions.

Stack and Slant
This toy concept reimagines the basic stacking game. By cutting the boxes at an angle, the game becomes a little more challenging. The shapes that comes from stacking the different blocks together are also more architectural.

Architectural Building Blocks
Building blocks set that are inspired by architectural building materials. The use of photography on the blocks, combined with color overlays on some of them provides a good balance of realism and playfulness.
