...or Bibliography is a series of images documenting the various books that I referenced during the first half of my thesis process.
Instead of simply listing the book titles in words, I decided to translate this into images, simultaneously documenting their presence in the RISD Fleet Library where I encountered them. Turning the surrounding books' spines away from the camera highlighted the one book that matters.
The title of this project is derived from a catalog from LACMA for an exhibit of the same name. I thought the play of words here is appropriate considering that each of these images is more of a code to finding the real books.
These images were compiled into a book. The result is a bound collection of visual call numbers for books/references that can be found specifically at the Rhode Island School of Design Fleet Library. These call numbers can be used to locate the book online at the library's portal.
The page number also serves as an index number for the books and call numbers. The texts below the images are not set in typical bibliography language. This is to make the book feel more like a collection of photographs, almost like a photographic typology.
